Testimony to Christ's charity, through Works of justice, peace and development, is part and parcel of evangelization, because Jesus Christ, who loves us, is concerned with the whole person. (Paragraph 15, Caritas in Veritate, Pope Benedict XVI)

Through the Gwangju Human Rights Peace Foundation the Archdiocese of Gwangju will spare no effort its promotion of and advocacy for human rights and justice and peace throughout the entire World. Remembering those who were isolated and who endured the hardships of Gwangju in 1980 and expressing Our gratitude and love for all the victims of the May 18th Gwangju Democratic Uprising, we will stand together against the sufferings endured by our brothers and sisters from around the World.

We will specifically provide support for human rights programs both at home and abroad, conduct surveys for the promotion of human rights and offer educational programs. In addition, We will collaborate with Countries that are experiencing similar situations as that experienced in Gwangju in 1980, We will offer programs to Overcome political and systematic oppression, and combine Our efforts at the diocesan level through other areas of involvement such as Volunteer Work.
